A rare crown-tipped candelabra coral fungus discovered near the Winterbourne Fields site

A rare crown-tipped candelabra coral fungus has recently been discovered in the South Blean Ancient Woodland, on the edge of the Winterbourne Fields site earmarked by developers for housing. This fungus was widely regarded as extinct in the UK, with only six recorded since 1886. This is an example of the unique biodiversity present in the ancient Blean woodland, which will be put at risk if this development was to proceed.
